Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer

Prepare Engineering Design Specifications for Heat Exchangers and Air Coolers in new unit designs.

Apply knowledge of exchanger types and application in refinery / petrochemical processes. >Review of Manufacturer Drawings for Fired Heaters and some specialized heat exchangers for compliance with UOP specifications.

Apply a working knowledge of heater and heat exchange industry guidelines (API, TEMA).

Apply a working knowledge of fired heater, heat exchanger, and air cooler thermal design software programs (HTRI, FRNC-5, various UOP proprietary programs)

Give technical support to UOP consulting services by giving advice on heat transfer issues, liaising with continuing services engineers and by conducting heater assessments onsite.

Qualifications:

Minimum Job Requirements (Degree, equivalent years of experience etc.)

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chemical is also acceptable).

Between 1 to 4 yrs relevant experience in heat transfer as applied in the refinery and/or petrochemical industries.

Conversant with refinery and petrochemical process considerations as they relate to fired heaters and heat exchangers.

Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills .

The preferred candidate should be from a reputed university, with an attitude to learn process technologies.
