Job Description:
NOC Engineer
Lead a team of 7 or more members along with individual contributions.
This position will be responsible for building out a new NOC team and will oversee the day-to-day
management of the NOC.
As the leader of the new NOC team, you will define and develop operating procedures for a 24x7
NOC and build out a team of NOC analysts that can support the operational duties of the NOC.
You will supervise and coordinate the activities of the NOC team during shifts, in order to deliver
outstanding quality and service to our customers in compliance with SLA requirements.
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of hands-on management and knowledge and
experience in fast paced and growing environments, and should be proficient with NOC concepts
and practices.
Job Responsibilities:
Monitor and support the company's production systems and applications.
Assist in coordinating operations and engineering teams in order to identify errors and anomalies.
Identify and verify service impact to customers, and engage subject matter experts in support of
problem resolution; Communicate with internal and customer-facing teams in support of status
updates regarding open issues, and implement actions in support of root cause analysis and
problem remediation.
Learn the skills needed to perform the tasks and ensure that all team members are on same page
with operational tasks.
Identify the opportunities to improve the monitoring and deployment procedures.
Ensure that appropriate documentation is in place and build knowledge base.
Drive continuous improvement in the practices and processes NOC follows.
Able to proactively identify issues/risks and escalate appropriately.
Set goals and objectives for team members and conduct performance reviews and provide timely
feedback.
Prepare the shift roster and ensure that we have adequate work force to handle the shift.
Analyze the recurring incidents and identify opportunities to reduce/eliminate the same.
Skills:
Strong leadership skills.
Good knowledge about operating systems like windows, Active Directory , Exchange, SCOM.
Good networking concepts like LAN, WAN, Networking concepts like TCP/IP , HTTP FTP etc and
utilities SSH, CURL etc.
Good knowledge about monitoring tools like Zabbix, Nagios, MRTG, HP openview , Tivoli , Netcool.
Good knowledge about Web and application servers like Apache/Jboss etc.
Experience in backup Tools like Windows backup or avamar or symanetc.
Good Troubleshooting skills at PC, OS & Network level.
Good to have scripting skills to automate routine jobs (Shell/Perl/python).
Very good interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving and written & verbal communication skills.
Willing to work in shifts including night and weekends.
Experience as NOC/Support team leader, including personnel and shift coordination and
management, and making daily reports on shift operations and issues handled/escalated.
